You know when you get dancer donation requests, it’s time for George Snow Scholarship Fund’s 14th annual Ballroom Battle.
“We are very excited about our cast of community dancers for this year’s event. They are all very enthusiastic about learning their dance routines and getting into their fund-raising efforts,” said president Tim Snow. “We are so very grateful to them for taking on this challenge for our organization.”
One of Boca’s biggest events went broadcast last year. The one-hour TV show delivered the competition for the mirrored ball trophy as the highest male and female fundraisers.
This year they’re reprising the show. The 2021 Ballroom Battle presented by Ed Morse Automotive Group will be 7 to 8 p.m. Saturday Aug. 14 on WPTV, the NBC affiliate.
Fred Astaire Dance Studios Boca Raton is Snow’s partner for this event and teaches the dancers and performs with each one.
Here’s this year’s dancers:
- Elmar Benavente, CEO, Be Design Associates, Inc.
- Kelly Fleming, mother and community volunteer
- Dre Garcia, CEO, EMPOWER Consulting Partners
- Melyssa Hancock, facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon
- Ryan Reiter, director of Government Relations, Kaufman Lynn Construction
- Mindy Shikiar, former executive, Boca Raton Regional Hospital
- Robert Snyder, executive director, Strategy Communications for NCCI
- Dr. Jeffrey Stein, internal medicine

“We decided to have the event on television again this year because of the success of our event last year,” Snow said. “We did not want to take a chance of not being able to host a live event in August. We hope to transition back to a live event next year, but in the meantime, we are focusing on making this year’s event the best Ballroom Battle yet.”
