New video for Habitat’s WOMEN Build coming back soon

Want to help build a house for a deserving family? Habit for Humanity South Palm Beach County 2020 WOMEN Build’s first video kickoff was released today. It recaps last year’s pre-Mother’s Day event that engaged so many Boca and other individuals, corporate and social groups:

You’ll meet the family, a hospital nurse and her mom, a housekeeper for a retirement community. Tour the Habitat home they helped build. See what being a homeowner means to them. “Just get your hands dirty and have fun,” nurse Jessie says.

This year’s build at two Boynton Beach sites may last longer than the usual three days because of social distancing, according to Habitat. But the ground rules remain the same. “Sisters of the Pink Hard Hats” donate or raise at least $1,000 toward the cost of the materials.

An official launch will announce the 2020 dates, how to register and fundraise. No construction experience necessary, Habitat likes to say. Under help from their construction pros and crew leaders, 32 roof trusses, 50 sheets of plywood and 3,000 hurricane straps and roof nails were installed last year. In “Brush with Kindness,” a home revitalization program, women covered houses with 120 gallons of prime and paint.

“Since we sadly had to postpone our Mother’s Day week timed WOMEN Build for 2020, we thought this commemorative week would be the ideal time to begin re-connecting the dynamic group of 200 plus women  who have blazed the trail during our first three WOMEN Build experiential fundraisers. They collectively   raised more than $635,000 in new home construction materials,” Habitat president/CEO Randy Nobles told Boca Voice. “Our new 2020 WOMEN Build Wednesdays’ social and direct inbox series will share important info and inspiration as we count down to the new event dates yet to be scheduled.”
