Here’s quotes from the Kennedy family member and former California first lady’s web site.

“I have always been surrounded by extraordinary people doing extraordinary things…My uncle John F. Kennedy was president. My uncles Bobby and Teddy Kennedy served in the U.S. Senate and also ran for president. My father Sargent Shriver served as founding director of the Peace Corps…My mother, Eunice Kennedy Shriver, started the Special Olympics…

“I believe my mission is to wipe out Alzheimer’s disease once and for all because it is destroying millions of lives. In 2003, my own father was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. Since that time, I haven’t stopped fighting for a cure.”

Shriver reached out to Schmidt last year through social media. “She started following me on Instagram and saw all the merchandise. So last year, Michelle and I sent her a couple of sweatshirts and T-shirts,” Schmidt said about Peaceful Mind Peaceful Life. “I love her work with Alzheimer’s, and I’ve have been a family supporter my whole life.”

Politics aside, Shriver “always tries to walk outside her beliefs and help people come together in the middle.”

An author and meditation teacher, Schmidt directs the Peaceful Mind Peaceful Life wellness series for women.

Sessions are held at the Christine E. Lynn Women’s Health and Wellness Institute at Boca Raton Regional Hospital.
