Brand ambassador and actor Mark Wahlberg didn’t surface in west Boca for his workout on F45 Training’s opening day. But there was still plenty of hoopla and fitness buffs at the studio in Uptown Boca, the new retail and residential complex on Glades Road.
Walhberg, who has a stake in the franchise, surfaced at the Jupiter studio last week, according to media. Jason Casano and Brian Hirsch co-own this franchise that offers members a gym with a promise: F stands for functional fitness and 45 minutes for the workout.
Classes now are geared toward working adults, with some as early as 5:15 a.m., as late as 6:30 p.m., at noon and on weekends. https://f45training.com/bocaraton/home
They’ll see what the market will bear, Casano said, adding they have special rates for Uptown Boca residents. “Our classes are good for any age and fitness level,” he said.
Inside is standard exercise equipment from weights and kettle bells to rowers, bikes and battle ropes. Three screens mounted on the wall show a trainer in action while on-site trainers help give members pointers. “Today we did cardio and strength. We always change it up,” said trainer Samantha Lacayo.
The location is in the corner next to a free garage, so if it’s raining, members can park under cover and come in the back door, the owners noted.
Two new members leaving the location said they joined to start a fitness regime that fits into their work schedule. Casano’s mom Joyce, visiting from New York, was so fit, she looked great in short shorts at 70. We didn’t take her picture on purpose.
