Boca Raton Concours d’Elegance coming up Feb. 7 to 9

Vroom, vroom. Major supporters kicked off the Boca Raton Concours d’Elegance coming up Feb. 7 to 9 with a Big Wheel Dinner.

This will be the 14th annual event that has raised more than $10 million for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County. Some of the kids were there, too. Pinnacle Advertising CEO Peter Gary is Big Wheel chairman.

The Concours d’Elegance includes the popular hangar party at Atlantic Aviation in Boca Raton Airport. Actor Billy Gardell is headlining the gala and awards Saturday night. And the Automobile and Motorcycle Exhibition and vintage and classic car competition is Sunday. Both at the Boca Raton Resort & Club. Here’s the details and link for tickets:

Here’s our Q&A with Boca Raton Concours d’Elegance founder and director Rick Case:

Q: Was the purpose of the Big Wheel Dinner to have sponsors meet the kids who benefit from this event?

A: The Big Wheel Dinner was a success in bringing in new faces and the return of long-time supporters. The Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County members are always a big part of our events, as it reminds everyone about the beneficiary of each dollar raised.

Q: Do you expect all the TV shows about cars to generate more interest?

A: The Boca Raton Concours has become a memorable attraction for everyone. With the continued TV shows, cars are a part of not just today, but also take us back in time with nostalgia we appreciate. Each year our audience during the three-day weekend has grown and this year it will continue to grow. Especially with the new edition to this year’s event.

Q: Tell people what to expect.

A: Something that South Floridian’s have never witnessed. All new this year, Mecum Auctions will present a gallery exposition of millions of dollars in collector cars and automotive fine arts. Everyone will have an opportunity to access the Mecum Gallery exposition of millions of dollars of collector cars on display and available for direct purchase, with individual cars valued as much as $20 million. Within the Mecum Exposition, they are also presenting an extraordinary display of automobile art by the Automotive Fine Arts Society Show (AFAS) with automobile artists from around the country displaying their work – all available for purchase. Artists include: Ken Eberts, Tony Sicorski, Richard Pietruska, Dan McCrary, Dennis Brown, David Chapple, Larry Braun, Steve Macy and more.

Q: Where will this be held in the Boca Raton Resort & Club?

A: In the Mizner Center ballroom.

Q: Is there anything else you want to say?

A: Come out and have a great time at any of the three event days Feb. 7, 8 or 9. It’s all for a great cause – to support the Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County.
